Often, during one of our jail ministry sessions, one particular inmate out of the group will catch my eye. We had 12 ladies in our group tonight, but one drew my attention, though she was in the opposite corner of the room from me. (more…)
I post a lot about jail ministry, but not nearly enough about how my wonderful husband, David, supports me in it. He just spent over an hour setting up a trac phone, leaving in the middle to go get some more data and minutes for it. He’s getting really good at setting these up because it isn’t the first time he has done that for one of the women who have moved to Hamilton County Community Corrections with nothing. (more…)

A few years ago, I started to feel that God was asking me to minister to women in the Hamilton County Jail. As the prompting grew stronger and more persistent, it dawned on me that if God wants me in the jail, He can get me there one way or another. I decided to go willingly and I’m so glad I did! Every week in jail ministry, I encourage the women we meet that once they finish their time and have been “off paper” for a year, they could even come back and minister with us. There are several ladies on our team who have themselves been incarcerated and the connection and impact they have is amazing. (more…)
Last night, we studied the story of the hemorrhaging woman who was healed when she merely touched the hem of Jesus’ garment. It’s a story I’ve heard so many times and one I’ve always loved, but I read it with new eyes this week as I prepared to discuss it with our group. After our study, as I slipped off to sleep, I couldn’t help but ponder the story and what I can learn from it. (more…)
